End-User License Agreement

This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") governs your download, installation, and use of Nox for macOS ("Software"), published by Joshua Lawrence (getnoxapp.com).

1. License grant & 14-day evaluation trial

Subject to the terms of this Agreement, Joshua Lawrence grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on Apple Mac computers running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later that you own or control.

Free Trial: You may evaluate all features of the Software free of charge for fourteen (14) calendar days from first launch without providing payment details. After the 14-day evaluation period expires, continued use of active screen filtering requires a valid one-time license key ($9.99 USD, processed via Polar.sh).

2. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Redistribute, sell, sublicense, lease, or publicly share your license key with third parties;
  • Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law;
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices included in the Software.

3. Installation, system changes & uninstallation

Nox is distributed as a signed and Apple-notarized disk image (.dmg). It runs as a standard user-space menu bar application and adjusts macOS display gamma tables only while running.

Uninstallation: Quitting Nox immediately restores default macOS display color tables. To completely uninstall Nox, click the Nox icon in the macOS menu bar, choose Quit Nox, and move Nox.app from your /Applications folder to the Trash.

4. Not a medical device & disclaimer of warranties

Nox is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent migraine, photophobia, or any other medical condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding medical symptoms.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EXCEEDING THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE SOFTWARE.

5. Privacy, updates & contact
